Biography

My name is Leslie Bush and my passion is to see students learn and succeed in my classes.

After graduating from ASU many years ago, this is a career dream come true. I am honored to be here as faculty.

Currently, I teach Fashion Merchandising, Retail Buying, Marketing, and Management for Phoenix College. Every year I offer students the opportunity to participate in a New York Study Tour which gives them a “behind the scenes” look at the fashion industry. Students interact with industry executives from wholesale manufacturing, public relations, luxury retail, and costume design on Broadway. I also offer a trip to Las Vegas for the MAGIC trade show giving students the opportunity to see wholesale/retail buying interaction up close.

Before I taught college, I had a long career in the Fashion retailing industry. After graduating from ASU, I began my career as an Executive Trainee with Marshall Field & Company in Chicago. I received excellent experience in store buying, management, merchandising, and human resources. Once promoted to buyer, my areas of responsibility included sportswear, coats and suits, accessories, shoes, and jewelry. In addition to Marshall Field, I have bought for high-end fashion stores such as I. Magnin (San Francisco), Broadway Southwest (Mesa) and Sherre’s (Scottsdale). In addition to teaching college, I also substitute teach and work at Sephora as a fragrance consultant.

I am originally from Morton Grove, IL. (Suburb of Chicago) My husband and I live in the area and have two adult sons. Jonathan is a former U.S. Marine and is currently serving as a recruiter for TEK Systems. His former assignment was Marine One Crew Chief for the President of the United States. My son Tyler graduated from U of A in 2011 and began his career as a financial advisor for Merrill Lynch. He has since moved on to the world of commercial real estate for Collier's International.  He is also a freelance skateboard photographer. He has contributed to ESPN, Thrasher, Transworld, and other action sports publications.

I have a passion for reading, teaching, walking, and enjoying life.

Welcome to class! I look forward to meeting and interacting with all of you.
