Lucile Faurel earned her bachelor's degree in international economics at the American University of Paris, remaining there for two years while working for Deloitte & Touche. She made her way across the pond to earn her doctorate from New York University. Prior to joining the W. P. Carey School, she served on the faculty of the University of California, Irvine. 

Her research has been published in top accounting journals, including the Journal of Accounting and Economics, the Journal of Accounting Research, and The Accounting Review. When not teaching or conducting research, Faurel enjoys hiking, tennis, skiing, traveling, and being a mother of three.
