Biography

Benjamin Shao is an associate professor of information systems and the co-director of Digital Society Initiative in the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. His research interests include impacts of IT, data analytics, ICT services, IT supply chain interface, IS security, healthcare IT, and software project management. He joined ASU 1999. His prior appointments include service with the State University of New York at Buffalo and Academia Sinica in Taipei, Taiwan.

Professor Shao has received numerous awards for his teaching at both graduate and undergraduate levels. Most recently, he received the Huizingh Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award of the W. P. Carey School of Business (2017-2018) and the Outstanding Teaching Award for Department of Information Systems Masters Programs (2015-2016). He has served as senior editor with the journal Decision Support Systems and as an associate editor for the Journal of the Association for Information Systems. He has published in a range of professional journals, such as Journal of the Association for Information SystemsJournal of Operations Management, Decision Support SystemsEuropean Journal of Operational ResearchHarvard Business Review OnlineIEEE Transactions on Engineering Management, ACM Transactions on Management Information Systems, Health Services Research, Communications of the ACM, and many others.
