The Department of Finance collaborates to empower K-12 students to take charge of their financial futures. We are committed to teaching the next generation how to make informed personal finance decisions about debt, investing, and more for long-term stability. By reducing barriers to financial well-being, we positively impact and strengthen our local communities.
Financial literacy outreach

Value to high school students
We have partnered with the Phoenix Union High School District (PXU) to improve financial capability and outcomes for local high school students. This partnership enables PXU students to access high-quality personal finance education and earn college credit through dual enrollment in ASU's universal learner courses. At no cost to schools, students can build sound financial habits that will serve them for a lifetime, allowing them to take control of their finances at an earlier age.
Value to educators
We work with Next Gen Personal Finance (NGPF) to improve financial knowledge for K-12 teachers. Building on the courses developed by NGPF, our program provides research-informed theory and best practices so educators are confident in the knowledge they have to teach students how to think about financial tradeoffs and lead financially healthy lives. Educators earn transcripted credit that they can apply toward a graduate degree program, such as an MA in Education at ASU.
