Biography

Alwin is pursuing his doctorate at Morrison School of Agribusiness. He was formerly a Research Associate at the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT). He has completed his MPhil in Economics from Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. He was involved in qualitative and quantitative research while working at International Maize and Wheat Improvement Centre and International Food Policy Research Institute. He has worked with farmers in India and Nepal. During his interaction with farmers, he found that agricultural development is the only means by which farmers can raise their income and their food security status. He also found that social networking among farmers is a meaningful way to spread valuable information on high yielding seeds, technologies or prices. This has influenced his research significantly. His area of interest lies in social networks among farmers, technology adoption and contract farming.
