Shonteff joined the Department of Economics in April 2005 after
working for small family owned businesses and the corporate world as
a regional manager. She earned her Bachelor and
Master’s Degree in Economics and Ph.D. in Education Policy and
Evaluation from Arizona State
University. Shonteff teaches the introductory
Microeconomic and Macroeconomic courses and is the Director of the
Economic Tutoring Center. She is also
an economic adjunct faculty member for the incarcerated
population and provides curriciulum assistance at Rio
Salado Community College, and serves as a volunteer section editor
for Education Review, an open access education journal.
is a certified group fitness instructor and personal trainer.
She was nominated as advisor of the year four times and recognized
twice for positively influencing students at Arizona State
University. She also served as an advisor for a team that won
the Edson Entrepreneurial Award and recognized as outstanding
faculty at Rio Salado Community College. Her current endeavor has
been the creation of a YouTube Channel with the assistance of
students and faculty
in less than 7 months and alot of time and effort 209 tutorials have
been created and the channel is reaching 20,000 viewers. The
hope is to expand this channel further and engage with the high schools.
