Vacuum Fundamentals

Learn to build and work with vacuum technology used in semiconductor and other manufacturing industries by enrolling in the no-cost AZNext Vacuum Fundamentals training program. This program has a live, in-person lab requirement at an ASU campus.

Program details

The AZNext Vacuum Fundamentals training program introduces you to the practices and technologies used by various industries utilizing vacuum technology in manufacturing. This in-person program is held on the ASU Polytechnic campus in Mesa and takes a full eight-hour day.

You'll learn from an instructor with real-world experience in the field of vacuum. During the program, you'll work on a team with other participants in a laboratory environment to build a vacuum chamber.

This specialized vacuum program covers the following topics:

  • Vacuum theory
  • Which leading industries use vacuum systems
  • How vacuum systems are used in these industries
  • As a bonus, you will see how you can boil water until it freezes

Who is this program for?

This course is designed for beginners with no previous knowledge of vacuum technology. It is ideal for entry-level workers looking to upskill or experienced workers looking to sharpen their skills.

Program participants must be:

What will I learn?

During the AZNext vacuum training course, you'll learn the theories behind vacuum science and use real, industry-level components to build and test data from an actual vacuum chamber apparatus. Course graduates will have a basic working knowledge of vacuum components, sensors, pumps, and the overall vacuum technology used by the industry today.

Learning themes:

  • Build an entire vacuum chamber by hand
  • Use the latest in vacuum sensors and vacuum pumps
  • Use an Arduino Microprocessor to take data on the system and learn about pressure measurements and leak detection
  • Basic components, sensors, and pumps used in vacuum technology and be able to speak intelligently on the topic
