Prepare for the MACC or MTax as a non-accounting student
If you have an undergraduate degree in another field and want to launch a career in accounting or taxation, Arizona State University offers two flexible ways for you to prepare for the Master of Accountancy and Data Analytics (MACC), Online MACC, or Master of Taxation and Data Analytics (MTax) program.
Option 1: MACC/MTax Bootcamp
Our MACC/MTax Bootcamp is the fastest, most affordable way to meet foundational requirements and transition into your preferred graduate program.
- Complete in one semester — Offered online twice a year (summer and fall) to prepare you for the next graduate program start term.
- Learn the fundamentals — You’ll gain the core accounting and tax fundamentals you need to supplement your skills and succeed in the master’s degree.
- Flexible and non-credit — The program is 100% online, with no need to enroll in individual undergraduate courses.
- Seamless transition — Successfully completing this program satisfies foundational academic requirements and will be part of a holistic admission review to the MACC, Online MACC, or MTax programs.
If you’re looking for a faster, more cost-effective path into graduate study, the MACC/MTax Bootcamp is your best option.
Option 2: Pathway Program
The Pathway Program offers another route to prepare for the MACC or MTax through traditional undergraduate accounting courses.
- Take four academic courses — Covers foundational accounting and taxation topics.
- Learn online or in person — Select the classroom experience that works best for you.
- Earn academic credit — Ideal for students who may need additional credit hours to meet CPA exam eligibility.
Important note on CPA eligibility
State boards of accountancy set their own education and credit-hour requirements for CPA licensure. If you plan to pursue CPA certification, you should review your state’s specific eligibility requirements to determine whether you need academic credit hours.
While the MACC/MTax Bootcamp fulfills prerequisite knowledge for the MACC or MTax, only the Pathway Program provides academic credit hours that may count toward CPA eligibility.
