Advising and support for students
We provide accurate, personalized, and developmental advising to all current and prospective undergraduate students interested in pursuing degrees, certificates, or minors within the W. P. Carey School of Business.
Distinct from faculty advising, our dedicated staff of advising professionals are uniquely positioned to guide your academic success and path to graduation. W. P. Carey advisors are knowledgeable and have an extensive professional network of colleagues university-wide to ensure you receive the support you need to succeed. Appointments are available through Advising SOS.
Academic advising
Once you have selected a business degree program, you will work with an advisor dedicated to that program. Your advisor will truly be a specialist when it comes to understanding the requirements and processes for that academic department. Our goal is to help you develop and complete an academic plan for success at ASU and beyond.
We can help you navigate program requirements and university policies and procedures, assist you with major exploration, and aid in course selection and scheduling. We also can provide a starting point for students interested in researching graduate study or career planning.

Career coaching and guidance
Create a blueprint for your career, with partners you can trust. Undergraduate students have access to tailored, major-specific career coaching through the W. P. Carey Career Services Center. One-on-one appointments are available, whether you’re attending school 100% online or earning your degree on campus. We recommend that you meet with a coach early and often, in order to develop a career strategy and understanding of yearly career outcomes.
WPC 101: Student Success in Business
Intentionally designed to support your success at ASU and after you graduate, WPC 101 is one of the key introductory classes that undergraduate students take at W. P. Carey. Many sections of this course are taught by current students, who share their perspectives along the way. The curriculum helps students own their success in the transition from high school graduate to college student and then to future business professional.
In WPC 101, students explore academic and career goals, participate in meaningful discussions, are exposed to new ideas and people, and become familiar with key resources. The course also includes an immersive entrepreneurship challenge and team project, where students work together to create a new business venture — developing their collaboration, creative, and planning skills.
W. P. Carey Leaders Academy
Take your college education and experience to the next level with dedicated academic advisors, faculty mentors, and support staff to help you achieve excellence. The W. P. Carey Leaders Academy is an established community and support network for high-achieving undergraduate students within the W. P. Carey School of Business.
Incoming first-year students admitted to Barrett, The Honors College at ASU are guaranteed selection to the Leaders Academy. Enrollment in Barrett, however, is not a requirement. You may also be selected if you are in the top 15 to 20 percent of incoming first-year business students, based on your academic achievements in high school.
I am always impressed with the agility of Leaders Academy students. They are frequently in situations that call for them to be creative and engage with difficult, unfamiliar topics. I find their ability to learn, develop, and solve problems nothing short of amazing.

As an incoming first-year student, you're automatically considered for Leaders Academy eligibility based on your academic achievements in high school. Approximately the top 15 to 20 percent of the incoming class will be honored with Leaders Academy invitations. In addition, all business students admitted to Barrett, The Honors College at ASU are eligible for Leaders Academy.
If you're not selected your first year, you may apply to Leaders Academy if you have completed at least 25 credit hours of college coursework, maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher, and have at least three (3) semesters remaining in your degree program. Leaders Academy applicants should also be involved in their community and have demonstrated leadership experiences in extracurricular activities.

These W. P. Carey Leaders Academy students strive to build a sense of community as well as provide social, academic, and professional opportunities for Leaders Academy students. Throughout the academic year, APPLEs plan events exclusively for Leaders Academy students that are free for them to attend. Many events include the opportunity to network with fellow students, staff, faculty, and industry professionals.
Leaders Academy has greatly influenced my college journey. Attending various professional events expanded my network and provided insights into local businesses. I also had the opportunity to become an APPLE within the Leaders Academy, enabling me to create events that contribute to the sense of community and provide valuable experiences for my fellow W. P. Carey students.
