Klein Award is presented annually by the W. P. Carey School of Business in association with the nationally recognized Blue Chip Economic Indicators newsletter, recognizing consistency and accuracy in economic forecasting. Each year, the Klein Award gives you an opportunity to connect directly with W. P. Carey School alumni, faculty, staff, students, and economic leaders in the heart of New York City.

Please join us as we honor Dean Maki, managing director and chief economist for Point72 Asset Manager, the 2016 Lawrence R. Klein Award for Blue Chip Forecast Accuracy. Maki will also present his economic forecast for 2017.

Maki leads a team that is responsible for analyzing and forecasting the U.S., Asian, and European economies and monetary and fiscal policies. Previously, he served as managing director and chief U.S. economist at Barclays, as a vice president of economic research at JPMorgan Chase, as a U.S. economist at Putnam Investments, and as a senior economist at the Federal Reserve Board, where his research focused on the relationship between household balance sheets and consumer spending.

Maki earned his PhD in economics from Stanford University and is a recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship. He is a member of the Economic Club of New York and is a former president of the Forecasters Club of New York as well as a former president of the New York Association for Business Economics. Maki is the author of many articles on economic trends and his research has been published in a number of academic journals. For his work, he previously received the Lawrence R. Klein Award in 2013, making him the first repeat winner of this award.
