MS-ISM specializations

Beyond the core Master of Science in Information Systems Management (MS-ISM) curriculum, you can create a blueprint for your career with intensive specializations that focus on where technology and information is headed next.

Responding to industry demand, MS-ISM specializations in data analytics, tech consulting, and cloud will develop the skills that hiring companies desire most. Course scheduling depicts how courses in each specialization fall in sequence with core courses and electives.

Data Analytics specialization courses

Charting a roadmap for data-driven decision making and getting a practical understanding of how IT tools and techniques can allow managers to extract predictive analytics and patterns from primarily numeric data.

The design of insightful business data visualizations and dashboards to improve business decision making. Applies advanced data visualization techniques to make sense of large data sets including temporal, geospatial, topical and business data while also making it easier to digest, present and utilize for business needs and users.

Combines hands-on experience with relevant readings to explore the strategies behind big data, AI, analytics, and data science that drive business decision making and how such strategies can lead to long term competitive advantage.

Focuses on key aspects of commoditization of hardware, software, and business processes. Introduces the IT product development and service delivery processes with sound management principles for on-budget and on-time projects that meet end-user needs.

Cloud specialization courses

Develops expertise in deploying and managing cloud technologies. Emphasizes best practices and design patterns of cloud operations to give students a foundation to deploy, maintain, migrate, problem-solve, and troubleshoot for cloud-based solutions. Covers topics regarding the creation of automatable and repeatable deployments of networks and systems on cloud platforms.

Investigates major categories of enterprise systems, factors driving software adoption and keys for successful implementation. Special attention is paid to evaluating the potential impact of emerging technologies on business environments.

Focuses on key aspects of commoditization of hardware, software, and business processes. Introduces the IT product development and service delivery processes with sound management principles for on-budget and on-time projects that meet end-user needs.

Explores the architecture and platforms of cloud computing through an overview of cloud concepts, core services, security, architecture, and support. Introduces the building of IT infrastructure on cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services. Outlines design principles to think about architecting optimal IT solutions on a cloud platform.

Tech Consulting specialization courses

Investigates major categories of enterprise systems, factors driving software adoption and keys for successful implementation. Special attention is paid to evaluating the potential impact of emerging technologies on business environments.

Builds foundations for process analysis by focusing on information, documents, people, roles, and business rules. Provides an introduction to various techniques and tools of process analysis, including an understanding of organizational issues in rolling out change initiatives.

Explains how to use Excel to build models of unstructured business problems to make better decisions and gain insight into the impact various factors have on those decisions.
