Become an expert in a high demand manufacturing field with the no-cost AZNext Additive Manufacturing program and start a career in aerospace, automotive, or healthcare.
Program details
Additive manufacturing, also known as 3D printing, designs and creates functional 3D objects layer by layer. It is an integral part of the manufacturing process for many industries due to its high production efficiency and custom volume capabilities. The global additive manufacturing market is projected to expand by 19.1% through 2032, with the aerospace, automotive, and healthcare industries driving the growth.
AZNext offers the Additive Manufacturing program through Coursera. The program is fully online and consists of five self-paced modules. These flexible modules have no completion deadline to accommodate the schedules of working students. You can complete the program in about a month by spending 10 hours a week on readings, lectures, and exercises or six months at two hours a week. You can take the modules in any order, but we recommend the following:
- Introduction to Additive Manufacturing Processes
- Material Extrusion
- Material Jetting and Stereolithography
- Selective Laser Sintering and Metal Laser Powder Bed Fusion
- Design for Additive Manufacturing
Who is this program for?
This additive manufacturing training program by AZNext and Coursera is designed for beginners. It does not require a technical background beyond high school-level physics, chemistry, and mathematics. We welcome all remote Arizona learners interested in additive manufacturing and 3D printing to apply.

What will I learn?
Participants in this AZNext program gain practical knowledge and experience with core processes, materials, and designs in additive manufacturing and 3D printing. You'll learn about build preparation, machine setup, post-processing requirements, cross-cutting aspects, and how to make data-driven decisions. Guided by industry experts, you'll contextualize your learnings through simulations of common additive manufacturing scenarios.

Graduates of the AZNext additive manufacturing training and 3D printing program earn a co-branded AZNext and Coursera digital credential, demonstrating their ability to fabricate parts and identify the right additive manufacturing process for a situation. You'll have the knowledge needed to take more advanced design and engineering courses, preparing you for a career as a technologist and technician.

You can pursue roles in industrial, mechanical, aerospace, or electrical engineering, as well as within clinical laboratories or manufacturing R&D.
