Supervised project opportunities

As a member of the SCEC, companies receive priority access to submit projects for our graduate capstone courses. Over the course of the semester, teams of graduate students will develop a problem statement and solution framework for the project based on a real industry issue, and present it to the company at the end of the semester.

Project timelines and submission templates

Members are encouraged to consider submitting projects to the Master of Science in Business Analytics (MS-BA) and Master of Science in Supply Chain Management (MS-SCM) programs. We can help you navigate which option is most ideal, depending on the opportunity you have in mind and the nature of your work. The following templates include information about what is needed to create a project and proposed timelines:

Learn more about MS-BA applied projects, including past clients. We take several measures to ensure complete project confidentiality, beginning with non-disclosure agreements (NDAs). Access to the data, analyses, discussions, and presentations related to the project is restricted at all times to the student team working on the project, the advising faculty, and the client. No work resulting from the project is published or shared, unless the client wishes to do so.

Example project opportunity

For this project the first step is to use supplied data to identify parts (individually or groupings) that are specifically needed in the warranty inventory. The second step is to join this data with the existing customer install base to determine a proactive refresh opportunity for our customers. The objective is to provide the sales organization with information to target customers with aging hardware that correlates with hardware that is most needed within services inventory.

Summary of solutions needed:

  1. Identify parts (individually groups) that are most needed in Services Inventory
  2. Use output of #1 to identify customers with systems that have the needed parts
