Network Partners with Students to Innovate

During the September 2012 Network Executive Board meeting, members discussed the results of a survey about supply chain applications and mobile technology that one of the Executive Board members had distributed to other members. The survey was distributed to the public and the Network Executives requested a student team explore the respondents’ assumptions that the creation of mobile supply chain applications would take a long time to create and would be dependent upon the support of an IT department.

In January 2013 ASU Supply Chain created an undergraduate team of three Supply Chain seniors and three IT seniors. Without any experience in cloud computing and application coding, within 7 weeks the students created a cloud based mobile application for assessing the state of leanness of a supplier and comparing the rating with ratings of other suppliers.
