U.S. Graduation Ceremony

There are more than 1000 graduates of the W. P. Carey China Programs in Shanghai. Each May China Programs brings graduates all the way from China to experience the graduation ceremony in the United States. For students unable to make the trip, a special graduation ceremony is held in China to celebrate their accomplishment.

The first EMBA cohort of students graduated in June 2005. The commencement was held in Shanghai and was presided over by ASU President Michael Crow. It was the first time in the university’s history that degrees were conferred by an ASU president outside of Arizona. Lou Jiwei, Executive Vice Minister of Finance, and Shanghai Mayor Han Zheng addressed the graduates.
