Test requirements

The Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is the accepted test for applicants in the Economics PhD program. The GRE is a computer-based standardized assessment delivered in English that serves as a uniform standards of measurement for applicants. Applicants’ scores should be highly competitive.

The GRE website provides additional information on the GRE and how to register for the test date and location.

GRE score submission

In the online application you will be asked to report both the score number and percentile obtained for the verbal, quantitative and analytical sections of the GRE. The official test scores, however, must be reported directly by the testing organizations to the ASU Graduate Admissions Services. ASU's GRE Institutional Code is 4007. No department code is needed.
