Letters of recommendation

Applicants to the PhD in Economics Program are required to submit three letters of recommendation from academic references.

You will be asked in the online application for the names and e-mail addresses of the three recommenders, which you will enter via the application tab titled “Supplemental.” Your recommenders will receive an e-mail with a link that will direct them to submit their recommendations electronically to Graduate Admissions Services for your file. Please inform your recommenders that the online submission process is the only method for submission.

Sources of recommendation letters

Individuals providing letters of recommendation should be able to speak to your personal qualities, career focus and potential for success both in the graduate business classroom and in a future career as a professor of finance at major research university. Your recommenders should know you personally and be familiar with your academic and career histories, credentials, leadership strengths and professional aspirations.
