Fall 2008 Investment Banking  Industry Scholars Application

Featured in Business Week!

The Investment Banking Industry Scholars (IBIS) program provides selected students a personalized program designed to develop in each participant:
  • a clear understanding of the investment banking industry and its hiring practices
  • the various career paths that an individual might pursue
  • the heightened skill levels required to identify and gain internships and/or full-time placement in investment banking and related industries

The primary focus of this program is preparation for the intensive interview process that is common in the Investment Banking industry. IBIS curriculum includes at least one recorded mock interview with a subsequent critique of that interview by industry professionals and/or BCC staff.

To achieve mastery in the interview process, students attend weekly sessions over a six (6) week period focused on gaining advanced knowledge in additional areas such as: personal career assessment, resume/cover letter writing, traditional interviewing, stress interviewing, case interviewing, as well as professional business/personal etiquette.

Participants will also be encouraged to create their own “job search support” groups that will meet outside of the scheduled IBIS program for the purpose of job search brainstorming, group discussions about investment banking, and peer interview practice

As part of the IBIS program, participants will have access to:

  • a small group luncheon conducted by a professional in the field of “professional etiquette” at meals and social events.
  • access to CareerLeader, the leading career assessment tool for business professionals originally developed for the Harvard MBA program.
  • networking and personal interaction with professionals in the field of investment banking which can lead to a mentorship relationship.
