Summer Reading Program

The Summer Reading Program has been designed for students of the W. P.  Carey Academy to provide the school’s top incoming students with a shared experience before they arrive on campus.  All incoming freshmen admitted to the W. P. Carey Academy, along with business school faculty and staff, read the selected text over the summer months and have the opportunity to share thoughts via a virtual classroom.  Then, during the first week of classes, students and faculty engage in small-group discussions based on the text.  Throughout the academic year, many of the activities and events planned for W. P. Carey Academy students will relate to the themes found in the selected text.

Participating in W. P. Carey Academy’s reading program introduces the university to students as a place of ideas, inquiry, discussion and dialogue.  Additionally, it allows students to begin forming relationships with faculty outside of the classroom and builds community among high-achieving academy students.
