What are the W. P. Carey Academic Cohorts? The W. P. Carey Academic Cohorts provide incoming freshmen the unique opportunity to participate in a learning community during their first semester at ASU. - The Academic Cohorts consist of core class in pre-set schedules known as clusters. Each cluster will contain a group of 19 students that will take every course in one cluster together.
- Academic Cohort courses are designed around university and business requirements in recommended combinations.
- One semester includes 5-10 hours of required business and ASU general studies courses, which allows for student flexibility when registering for the remaining credit hours.
- Participating students are guaranteed seats for popular courses within the Academic Cohorts program
- ASU101 is the mandatory freshman seminar, included in the Academic Cohorts Program.
Why should I participate? - Academic Cohorts are a great way to meet other business students and form new relationships.
- You can learn about the W.P. Carey School of Business and ASU.
- You can quickly form study groups and learn good study habits.
- Academic Cohorts provide students the support they need to excel at ASU.
What students are saying about the Academic Cohorts - “This was real helpful in making this place feel like a home. It made the campus feel smaller.”
- “I got to know people and feel like I was something more than a number here at ASU.”
- “It was easier to form study groups because all the same kids are in the same class.”
- “It helped me create a community of familiar faces.”
- “I think I would have been lost at ASU without it.”
