Changing Majors

Declaring a W. P. Carey Bachelor of Science Degree Program:

If you are a student wishing to pursue a W. P. Carey School of Business Bachelor of Science Degree program, you are eligible for direct admission if you have:

  • An SAT (math + critical reasoning sections only) score of 1160 or an ACT (composite) score of 25 or a top 8% high school class rank
  • A 3.0 cumulative ASU GPA
  • A 3.0 cumulative transfer GPA (if you have attended another institution).
  • Minimum grade requirements must be met for all critical tracking courses taken (*applicable only if student falls under critical tracking requirements)

Declaring a W. P. Carey Bachelor of Art Degree Program:

If you are a student wishing to pursue a W. P. Carey School of Business Bachelor of Arts Degree program, you are eligible for direct admission if you have:

  • An SAT (math + critical reasoning sections only) score or an ACT (composite) score on file at ASU (no minimum score requirement)
  • A 3.0 cumulative ASU GPA
  • A 3.0 cumulative transfer GPA (if you have attended another institution).
  • Minimum grade requirements must be met for all critical tracking courses taken (*applicable only if student falls under critical tracking requirements)

* All students who have been classified as Freshman at any Arizona public institution during Fall 2007 or later must follow eAdvisor/Criticial Tracking Requirements.  Please see the following link for each major map:  https://webapp.asu.edu/eadvisor/MajorMaps.html

Portfolio Admission Process:

If you do not meet the direct admission requirements for either the B.A. or B.S. Degree Programs, you may submit a portfolio application to the W. P. Carey School of Business Undergraduate Programs Office.  Your portfolio will be reviewed by the department that you have specified on your application - please note that this is a competitive admissions process and admission is not guaranteed.  If you are transferring from another institution, you must be admitted to ASU before submitting your portfolio.  Portfolio submission deadlines may be viewed at the Admission Portfolio web site.

Additional Change of Major Requirements:

Note:  Not eligible to change major if on Disqualified, Probation or Ineligible status or on Administrative Hold.

Note:  Prior to attendance at an orientation, freshmen (non-international) must contact ASU’s Orientation Office to request a change of major.

Note:  Prior to first semester attendance, international students must contact the International Admissions Office to request change of major.
