Finance Major Requirements

The study of finance prepares students to understand the financial implications inherent in virtually all business decisions. Students majoring in Finance are prepared for entry-level careers in corporate financial management, investment banking, consulting, depository institutions, portfolio analysis, investment management, and financial services. The finance curriculum emphasizes corporate investment and financial policy, financial markets, valuation of financial and real assets, and efficient allocation of resources.

As part of the W. P. Carey community, you have access to a comprehensive advising program that will help you get on the right track to graduation.  Use your Major Mapnew window to see your major's critical requirements, what courses you need, and when you should take them.

Honors equivalent course of ACC 231 and/or ACC 241 are:

  • ACC 261 or ACC 303 replaces ACC 230/231
  • ACC 271 replaces ACC 240/241

If your catalog is 2006-2007 or earlier, Curriculum Check Sheetsnew window are available for tracking your degree requirements.

  • FIN 484 Internship and FIN 493 Honors Thesis CANNOT be used in the major.
  • FIN 456 may be used in either the major or as the International Business Core requirement, but CANNOT share in both areas.
  • A second "D" or "E" grade in a major course, cannot continue in the major. Please see a Finance major advisor, about options if this happens.

Graduation Requirements

Students in a W. P. Carey degree program must complete a Declaration of Graduation prior to completing 87 semester hours. Failure to do so results in being prevented from further registration. The process of completing these documents helps you to select the right courses to complete graduation requirements for your degree.  Please consult an academic advisor if you have questions or need assistance in completing this critical process.

If you are an ASU Athlete, please contact Maria Chomina.
