Economics Major Requirements

The curriculum for the Bachelor of Science (BS) in economics provides students with an understanding of how households, firms and governments make economic decisions and how the implications of those decisions affect the business environment, resource allocation, pricing, distribution of income, economic growth and other macroeconomic variables. It provides students with the analytical and quantitative skills needed to prepare them for careers in business, government or public policy. The BS program of study can also be tailored to prepare students for graduate programs in economics, business, or law. Students interested in pursing a PhD in economics are strongly encouraged to minor or major in mathematics as well.

As part of the W. P. Carey community, you have access to a comprehensive advising program that will help you get on the right track to graduation.  Use your Major Mapnew window to see your major's critical requirements, what courses you need and when you should take them.

If your catalog is 2006-2007 or earlier, Curriculum Check Sheetsnew window are available for tracking your degree requirements.

Graduation Requirements

Students in a W. P. Carey degree program must complete a Declaration of Graduation prior to completing 87 semester hours. Failure to do so results in being prevented from further registration. The process of completing these documents helps you to select the right courses to complete graduation requirements for your degree.  Please consult an academic advisor if you have questions or need assistance in completing this critical process.
