Academy Residential Community

The W. P. Carey Academy residential community, offered for the first time in fall 2009, is designed to offer W. P. Carey Academy students the opportunity to be part of a living and learning community of engaged and talented business students.  Housed within the new Barrett, The Honors College complex, the community is comprised of business freshmen (primarily, but not limited to students enrolled in Barrett, The Honors College) who believe they will benefit from being surrounded by students who share their academic interests.

Living in the W. P. Carey Academy residential community will provide Carey Academy students with numerous opportunities to interact with their peers, staff and faculty in an engaging learning environment outside of the traditional classroom.   Students will feel connected to their academic home at the W. P. Carey School of Business through frequently planned activities and group experiences.

Location

The new nine-acre Barrett complex, scheduled to open in fall of 2009, was designed by students, faculty, and staff working with nationally-renowned architects.  As the first four-year residential honors college within a top-tier public university in the nation, it will include a sustainable living and learning community and feature multi-use classroom and meeting spaces, a multi-room honors dining hall, a fitness center, many unique outdoor courtyards and a central amphitheatre. The Barrett Complex is located on the southeast corner of campus, just a short walk from the W. P. Carey School of Business.  The Carey Academy community is located in the Agave Building on the fourth and fifth floors.

Requirements

Students must be admitted to Arizona State University as a W. P. Carey School of Business major, admitted to the W. P. Carey Academy (or Barrett, The Honors College), attend an Arizona State University New Student Orientation program, enroll in a W. P. Carey cohort, and attend Camp Carey - a first-year student retreat. All members of the community are expected to participate in the wide variety of activities and events offered for the residential community.
