Certificate in Knowledge Entrepreneurship and Innovation
My Life Venture will be the first in a series of five courses that will comprise a university-wide certificate in Knowledge Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Successive courses will provide training in advanced topics related to venture creation and will provide tailored experiences in individual colleges and schools.
The certificate program will comprise three university-wide courses followed by two courses within a student’s disciplinary college. Individual colleges will be encouraged to offer a capstone course as part of the program. Beyond topics related specifically to entrepreneurial business practices, courses will include such topics as social entrepreneurship, arts entrepreneurship, idea generation and storytelling as additional perspectives for the student entrepreneur.
Students completing the certificate in Knowledge Entrepreneurship and Innovation will be recognized for their achievements on their transcripts, and career services will market the certificate to potential employers, highlighting the innovative skills that students with this designation can offer.
My Life Venture is currently offered in fall 2008 as WPC 294, open to ASU undergraduate students of all majors. This course is a hybrid course and meets one hour per week face-to-face and two hours per week online (at your own pace). Sections of this course will be offered as MGT 394: Introduction to Entrepreneurship and Value Creation, limited to W. P. Carey School of Business BS students who have completed or are currently enrolled in ACC 240 or ACC 241 with a grade of C or above.
