Small Business Leadership Academy Launched
Salt River Project and Arizona State University's W. P. Carey School of Business Center for Executive and Professional Development will join this fall to launch the Small Business Leadership Academy, the first of its kind on the West Coast. The corporate-education partnership is an effort to provide education and resources to the local small and diverse business community, establishing a program for business owners to garner the acumen necessary for growing and improving their businesses.
W. P. Carey Students Named McCord Scholars
Seven undergraduate students at the W. P. Carey School of Business have been selected as McCord Scholars and will receive $10,000 each toward their academic careers through the McCord Scholars Program.

W. P. Carey Residential Community Move In
Location: Hassayampa Academic Village, C Wing
As an integral part of the 2008 Fall Welcome activities, incoming W. P. Carey School of Business freshmen will move into the W. P. Carey Residential Community. Students will be welcomed by school's deans, staff and current students. Sandwiches and snow cones will be served.

- W. P. Carey School of Business "First Lecture" Series featuring a W. P. Carey School of Business professor for freshmen and their guests

W. P. Carey Summer Reading Program
Location: Memorial Union- Turquoise Room (MU 208)
The Summer Reading Program has been designed for students of the W. P. Carey Academy to provide the school's top incoming students with a shared experience before they arrive on campus. All incoming freshmen admitted to the W. P. Carey Academy, along with business school faculty and staff, read the selected text over the summer months and have the opportunity to share thoughts via a virtual classroom. Then, during the first week of classes, students and faculty engage in small-group discussions based on the text. Throughout the academic year, many of the activities and events planned for W. P. Carey Academy students will relate to the themes found in the selected text.

Camp Carey — For registration and additional information
Location: Prescott, Arizona
Camp Carey is a unique opportunity for incoming W. P. Carey School of Business freshmen to connect with fellow students and school faculty, staff and alumni. The weekend experience will help students develop their personal networks and make a strong connection with the W. P. Carey School as they begin an exciting and rewarding academic career.
Hosted in northern Arizona, Camp Carey is an intensive weekend retreat consisting of a variety of experiences. Students will have an opportunity to attend seminars with the dean, work through a Team Challenge course and expand their understanding of business through the Corporate Challenge, during which they will develop a business plan.
