FDIC
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation database consists of SAS datasets which contain financial information and history of all entities filing the Report of Condition and Call Report. It also contains some of the savings institutions filing the OTS Thrift Financial Report. These include commercial banks, savings banks, and savings and loans.
The FDIC data and documentation is available through WRDS at: http://wrds.wharton.upenn.edu/ds/fdic/index.shtml
In addition, the data is available in SAS format on the local network at K:\fdic . The dataset comes with a DOS based data dictionary called RIS. The install program is located at K:\fdic\ris . To install the dictionary, run K:\fdic\ris\fdicdict.exe and in the dialog that appears, change the install path to "C:\". This will create a directory called "C:\RIS". To run the program, run the dict.bat program in this directory.
Finally, this data can be searched and retrieved through the FDIC website at http://www.fdic.gov . The FDIC website also contains more information on the data collected and distributed by the FDIC.
