MPH Admissions Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
  • A recommended GRE test score of 1180 or higher taken no more than five years prior to the application.
    • The writing score from the GRE will weigh heavily in admissions decisions.
    • Applicants with a PhD, MD, DO, PharmD or DDS are not required to submit a test score.
  • An undergraduate minimum GPA of 3.0 with a statistics or equivalent math course, and a biology or health-related science course.
  • Three recommenders, such as, employers, supervisors, and professors.
    • You will be asked for your recommenders' names and email addresses in the Graduate College online application.  An email recommendation form will be sent to your recommenders.
  • Personal Statement, not more than two double-spaced, typewritten pages.
    • Personal statements are uploaded into the Graduate College online application.
  • For international applicants whose native language is not English, a minimum TOEFL score of 80. We only consider iBT TOEFL scores.
  • Transcripts from all undergraduate/graduate colleges or universities.
  • Resume.

ASU's GRE and TOEFL Institutional Code is 4007. The Department code for the GRE is 0000 and 99 for the TOEFL.

Application Deadlines- Cohorts begin in the fall of each year

  • Applications are accepted December 1 - June 1 of each year and are reviewed monthly. Applicants will be notified within one month of review.
  • Applications must be submitted online at http://asu.edu/gradapp.Select the option for Master of Public Health (MPH). The application fee is $70 for domestic students and $90 for international students.
  • A credit card (Visa or MasterCard), a U.S. check or money order payable to Arizona State University, or cash (if paying in person) are acceptable methods of application fee payment.
  • Send sealed transcripts (in one complete mailing with your name and 10-digit ID number) or have your college/university send transcripts to: ASU Graduate College, Interdisciplinary Building, B Wing, Room 285, Tempe, AZ  85287-1003.
  • If you are not a U.S. citizen and in the U.S., ASU requires a copy of your current visa. The copy can be faxed to 480.965.5158.
  • All international students must complete a Financial Guarantee form regardless of funding. The form can be found at http://graduate.asu.edu/forms/index.html.
