| The mission of CABIT is to serve as a catalyst for research and education partnerships with businesses. Successful research centers are beneficial to both the academic institution and industry partners. They contribute to the competitiveness of industry partners through new product development and improved business processes. Research driven relationships also foster curriculum and programmatic innovations that propel the School's mission of technology transfer. FORMS OF COLLABORATION WITH CORPORATE PARTNERS There are several forms of possible collaboration between a partner and CABIT. These include charter membership, enterprise membership, faculty exchanges, executive education, and funded research projects. An initial goal for CABIT is to develop close partnerships with the corporate community that represents the industries identified by the Greater Phoenix Economic Council as drivers of the emerging knowledge economy in Arizona. The industries highlighted include: software, high tech manufacturing, aerospace, biomedical and advanced financial services. Faculty Exchanges: Exchange programs are tailored per faculty availability and client needs. These could run anywhere from a 3 to 12 month time period. The faculty member is expected to return to ASU with insights from the corporate environment, and the industry partner would have access to the faculty member's subject area expertise. Executive Education: Seminars for senior management and also technology champions will be taught at ASU or at a site selected by the partner. These seminars would be tailored specifically to the training needs of an individual company. Funded Research Projects: These projects involve joint research on a contract basis in areas identified jointly by an industry partner and the ASU faculty members associated with CABIT. Participating faculty may also be drawn from among our global academic alliance partners. An overview of Information Technology at W. P.
