Management professor
Amy Hillman in the Department of Management primarily studies corporate governance and the role of the board of directors in improving firm performance. A current project underway with departmental doctoral students Tom Dalziel and Kati Haynes is how board composition changes over time as a firm develops from early entrepreneurial stages through growth and maturity. The team is compiling a history of 50 boards development from IPO through selection in the S&P 500 and exploring the role of how board composition is related to both internal and external characteristics and firm performance across time.
