SIM Leadership Development Program Overview

What is the SIM Leadership Development Program?

The SIM Leadership Development Program at the W. P. Carey School of Business is an intensive ten-month program that will help you uncover your own authentic leadership styles and voices. The Society for Information Management’s highly regarded Regional Leadership Forum curriculum serves as the program’s foundation; W. P. Carey faculty and industry leaders provide insights on research, trends and lessons that will shape decisions in the future. LDP learning is based on sharing life experiences, reflecting on a wide range of topics, and hearing directly from established leaders.

The SIM Leadership Development Program Experience

LDP isn’t just another classroom lecture.  You and your peers will engage in stimulating group conversations on innovative leadership ideas and concepts, and read books authored by noteworthy leaders and thinkers of the past and present. Exercises, case studies, and simulations enhance the learning experience. A Society for Information Management facilitator guides you through the leadership journey and W. P. Carey faculty discuss IT trends and topics that are critical for next-generation leaders. You’ll also gain insight from executive speakers about their professional journeys and the leadership lessons learned in the trenches.

The LDP curriculum includes everything from personal benchmarking to negotiating skills to issues in managing change and diversity.  Discover your own leadership style through continuous interaction with peers and senior facilitators who share their personal lives and work experiences. The sessions provide an interactive learning environment to develop leadership, team-building, creative thinking, listening, and global business ethics. Experienced IT and business leaders share their personal leadership stories throughout the forum.

Through LDP, you will develop as a team leader, becoming:

  • Highly motivated and challenged
  • Adaptive and agile
  • Dedicated and eager to make a difference
  • Results-oriented with a clear strategic vision
