Developing Leadership Authenticity and Credibility

Whether with peers, managers, direct reports, or even those outside of the workplace, credibility is defined as competence plus character. Building those two traits simultaneously and with excellence is critical for today's managers as relational credibility inspires loyalty and followership.

There is growing evidence to suggest that current leaders in most industries are held back by two deficiencies:

  • Credibility violations that inhibit leaders from recognizing how the smallest behaviors can slowly chip away at their credibility resulting in a lack of followership by peers, followers, and clients/customers
  • An inability to be authentic (i.e., to leverage their personal strengths and weaknesses rather than being told how to act or be or to imitate other leaders)

Learning Objectives

  • To understand what credibility really means in leadership and how to get it and never lose it
  • To appreciate that authenticity means more than being genuine--it's about consistency of behavior
  • Appropriately shift leadership focus throughout the project life cycle
  • To recognize and avoid the most common relationship mistakes leaders make

Who Should Attend

Anyone interested in building their personal credibility will benefit from this workshop. The need to ensure credibility and authenticity applies to individual contributors and new managers, as well as senior managers. It also transcends industry.
