The Management Department has an ambitious goal- to be a top 20 Management Department in both research and teaching. Students at the undergraduate, graduate and doctoral levels gain current and relevant knowledge of management practice and theory from esteemed faculty who are both excellent scholars and teachers.
How are we doing? ASU faculty ranked 1st internationally as authors of leading textbooks in all areas of management.They also write cases and are among our top teachers. In 2008, Management faculty won three of the five W. P. Carey School of Business awards for Outstanding Teachers and the John Teets award for Outstanding Graduate Instructor (the only one granted). Our management major develops team-skilled, collaborative leaders with the capability to think strategically, solve people and process problems, and communicate in a project-oriented, digital environment. Our graduates are prepared to lead change in a world characterized by speed, increasing demands for enhancing the stakeholder value, growing technological sophistication, and racial, cultural and gender diversity in the workplace. Management majors are prepared to do good while doing well.
The Management Department also ranks highly in research, allowing our faculty to provide students with new knowledge needed in their careers. The University of Texas Dallas ranks ASU's Department of Management fifth in U.S. for publications in top journals and U. S. News & World Report ranks our department 26th among Management Departments. With five Fellows of the Academy of Management, an Incoming President of the Academy of Management, and Incoming Editor of Academy of Management Review plus multiple faculty who are or have been editors of other top journals, you can't find a more research-oriented culture than ours at ASU. What makes us unique is we bring all we discover into our classrooms in engaging and effective ways to prepare future business leaders.
