International/Off-site Electives

W. P. Carey MBA students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of international electives in locations around the world, as well as the Public Policy Process course in Washington, D.C. Throughout the year we have information sessions about these electives to inform students about the costs, application process, course dates and curriculum.

Although destinations vary year to year, international electives have been offered in the following locations:

Understanding Washington: Business and the Public Policy Process

This strategy course helps managers understand how public policies can create opportunities or threats for their organizations, and how they can develop and organize their resources to participate effectively in the public policy process.

  • Experience firsthand the structure and operations of the various branches of government
  • Learn how to monitor and anticipate key public policy decisions and assess the various political players and their interests
  • Participate in a simulation in which key policy decisions are made
  • Gain insight and appreciation for the importance of public policy issues when thinking strategically about their organization's current operations and future plans
