ElectivesThe Weekend program of the W. P. Carey Professional MBA allows you to customize your degree with elective courses that complement the core business curriculum. You will choose twelve credit hours of electives total; electives can be from the same discipline to earn an area of emphasis, or you may choose from different disciplines to gain breadth across business functions. Electives are offered throughout the year, and/or take place during breaks for ease of scheduling. The course offerings are updated annually, but prospective students can review electives for the upcoming academic year. To further enrich your education, we offer additional off-site electives in countries around the world and in Washington, D.C. Areas of EmphasisOptional areas of emphasis allow you to select three focused courses (3 credits each) out of four elective choices in one area of study. Each area of emphasis requires 9 credit hours of associated classes and gives you the opportunity to gain greater depth of knowledge in a particular area of interest. The following areas of emphasis are currently available in the Weekend program: You must declare your intention to pursue an optional area of emphasis no later than the conclusion of your fourth course in the program. Off-Site/International ElectivesW. P. Carey MBA students have the opportunity to participate in a variety of international electives in locations around the world, as well as the Public Policy Process course in Washington, D.C. Throughout the year information sessions are held to provide details about costs, application process, course dates and curriculum. |
