In addition to completing all the steps on the How to Apply page, you are also required to complete the requirements below.
Items to Submit Electronically
Required Essays
Your admission essays help us to better evaluate you as an individual. Your required essays must be submitted using the web-based application.
Before submitting your essays, we strongly recommend that you first compose the essays in a desktop word processor. After you have saved each essay, you can then easily attach it to the appropriate application Essay Question field. Responses should be limited to no more than 700 words per essay [approximately two (2) double-spaced pages per essay].
- Essay Question #1: Explain how your past accomplishments have prepared you for the W. P. Carey MBA.
- Essay Question #2: How will the W. P. Carey MBA help you achieve your personal and professional goals?
- Essay Question #3: Please address any weakness in your W. P. Carey MBA application or provide additional information that you would like to bring to the attention of the Admissions Committee.
Dual degree students' questions may be worded slightly differently so as to be inclusive of the engineering area.
Current Resume
Your resume (two page maximum) should include the following:
- Dates and location(s) of your academic degree(s)
- Your employment and salary history
- A list of recent honors, awards, or certificates
- A summary of basic computer skills
- A list of overseas travel and/or work experience
- Any multilingual abilities
Candidate resumes should also list and briefly describe all extracurricular and community/civic activities and the level of your involvement (i.e., as a founding member, an appointed or elected officer, etc.).
Items to Mail
Immediately upon final submission of your web-based application, you will see your Document Reference Number displayed. Please save your unique Document Reference Number as you will need it later in the application process. We ask that you include this reference number on all supplemental application items. This number will assist in the "matching" of your application materials.
The following items should be forwarded to the ASU Graduate College (PO Box 871003, Tempe, AZ 85287–1003) in a single and complete mailing (with your Document Reference Number on each of the items):
- Cover Sheet
Include in the mailing packet a cover sheet confirming the exact name used during completion of your web-based application, the W. P. Carey MBA program to which you are applying, and your date of birth (month/day only). This information is used for authentication and matching purposes only.
- Two (2) Letters of Recommendation
You should obtain two letters of recommendation on company letterhead from your references, and forward them unopened in the original, sealed envelopes as part of your supplemental application materials mailing. The W. P. Carey MBA does not provide a standardized recommendation form. - Official Transcript(s)
One (1) unopened official transcript for each college or university attended must be submitted in sealed envelopes directly from the college or university. If you have more than one degree, make sure you request an official transcript from the school from which you received your four-year bachelor's degree.
