MBA Partner Programs

Curriculum

Mexico City Program

W. P. Carey School of Business takes another valuable step toward internationalizing its programs through a partnership with the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM).

The program is designed for senior executives seeking to strengthen their managerial abilities and to round out their business vision with a global perspective. The state-of-the art curriculum and the unique alternate weekend format seamlessly integrates practical learning and experience without interfering with work responsibilities. The end product is a solid network of business and personal relationships which provide a lifetime of global career value that spans across two nations.

Curriculum

W. P. Carey School of Business and ITAM are dedicated to delivering a program that fulfills the standards of excellence that has distinguished both schools. Accelerated learning with cutting-edge methods and well-known faculty from two world-class business schools provide executive students with a distinctive educational experience.

With courses taught in Spanish and English, students develop a portfolio of business skills and knowledge essential for leading in today's global economy:

Dual Program

In this joint program, half of the classes are taught in Spanish by ITAM professors and the other half is taught in English by professors from the W. P. Carey School of Business; upon completion of the program, graduates will receive two degrees: Maestro de Direccion de Empresas from ITAM and W.P. Carey Master of Business Administration from ASU.

The granting of two degrees is made possible by the design of the curriculum and by the fact that professors are recognized reciprocally by both institutions. The two institutions have worked to ensure that the content, relevancy and methodology of the courses, as well as the academic excellence of the professors, meet the strict standards of quality that characterize both ITAM and ASU.

One of the major strengths of the executive MBA is the global perspective that students attain due to their continuous interaction with professors who possess international training, experience and recognition.

A field trip is used to consolidate this global perspective: at the start of the second year, students travel to Phoenix, Arizona for a week of intensive classes at the executive MBA facilities at ASU and for visits to multinational firms also located in Phoenix. This experience exposes participants up close to the operations and business practices of firms that are global leaders.

As an option, participants may take a similar trip to Shanghai, China, where the W. P. Carey School of Business and Shanghai National Accounting Institute offer a joint MBA program.

Structure of the Program

  • Strength in business fundamentals: accounting, finance, marketing, operations, law, economics, information technology, and strategic decision-making

  • Ability to apply knowledge, using creative and well-reasoned analysis, to create value for their companies

The executive MBA consists of eighteen classes offered over a two-year period on alternating weekends (Fridays and Saturdays from 9 am to 6 pm) so that students have two weekends free each month.
