MBA/Master of Health Sector Management

The MBA/MHSM is a professional program granting two distinct degrees. This revolutionary program provides the health sector with highly-trained administrators who possess specialized skills for the rapidly changing pace of the healthcare industry. Students come from a variety of backgrounds, including working professionals who want to retool their skills for leadership positions in the health industry, and health providers who want training in business skills to move into upper-level managerial positions.

Coursework

Courses include Health Sector Organization, Principles of Epidemiology, Health Care Economics and Health Care Law.

The MBA/MHSM dual degree program requires 78 credit hours for graduation, including 18 credits that are shared between the two programs.

Special Application and Program Notes

  • You should specify your interest in pursuing the concurrent degree program during the initial application process.
  • You should follow the admissions process for both programs when selecting the concurrent degree.
  • Admission decisions for the program are made by the MBA Admissions office in conjunction with the School of Health Management Policy.
  • Prior experience in health care is not required.
  • Students selecting the concurrent degree should also select a W. P. Carey MBA Full-time specialization.
  • The two degrees must be earned concurrently. You must not submit a Petition to Graduate until you have completed both degrees. If you already have been awarded one degree you cannot count any of those credit hours toward a second degree.
