"As the Fan Loyalty Supervisor for the Arizona Diamondbacks, I was responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Fan Loyalty Program. This entailed segmenting member information in order to create targeted e-mail campaigns that generated incremental revenue, constructing programs to improve customer service delivery, and managing a staff of 20 employees on game day. I worked on several projects such as: Created and launched a referral program, researched and put together a report of all MLB Kid’s Loyalty programs across the league, constructed an end-of-the-year season ticket holder survey and designed and implemented a 'secret shopper' program."

"I was part of Apple’s Global Supply Management team at their headquarters in Silicon Valley. Having the opportunity to be immersed in Apple’s innovative, entrepreneurial culture was a critical part of my professional development as an MBA. Looked to for new perspective, I was able to identify ongoing operational needs and create real-time solutions as a business analyst. I prepared a business case for the Chief Operating Officer that highlighted critical fallacies in the current information system and presented the design and expected ROI for a new system that would manage a $600 million business. Other deliverables included a business case for EDI implementation, a supplier scorecard that used operational, financial and qualitative metrics, the FY 06 online and retails sales forecast and, for weekly presentation to the operations team, a promotional tracking scorecard. "This past summer, I interned in the Arizona State University Athletics Marketing Office. I focused on three main projects: student football season tickets, car wrap, and soccer marketing plan. Using a variety of marketing techniques such as signage and direct mailings to reach our current and incoming students we experienced a 150% increase in the sale of student season football tickets. I was also in charge of selecting and coordinating the “wrapping” of ASU Athletic graphics on 21 of our most loyal fans’ vehicles. Finally, with the assistance of fellow sports business MBA Curtis Valentine, I coordinated the 2005 Sun Devil women’s soccer marketing plan, including securing a sponsor to provide additional funding, arranging for celebrity guest coaches, and implementing our 1st annual coaching clinic, kids clinic, and youth soccer leader luncheon. I will be extending my summer internship throughout the school year. "

"This summer I worked for Berridge Interactive, a small start-up firm founded in 2005 that provides marketing and media solutions to both sports advertisers and sports publishers through its SportsAdMarketplace service. As Director of Business Development, my responsibilities and projects were as broad as you would imagine in a small startup. I was responsible for researching potential markets and pricing, creating marketing collateral, forging strategic partnerships with online agencies, seeking out potential customers, engaging in product design, and helping to establish strategic direction. The projects that I brought to completion are the creation of the base advertising packages, the creation of a media kit which is the center point of the online advertising sales cycle, and establishment of over forty different highly-interested sales prospects for the SportsAdMarketplace product."

"I interned this summer at Mandalay Baseball Properties. Mandalay is headquartered in Los Angeles and owns 5 minor league baseball teams throughout the country. My main task was to develop and evaluate non-ticketing revenue generation ideas. My two main projects focused on extending the reach of officially licensed team merchandise and a program to facilitate gift card use at the stadiums. I solicited bids from merchandise and gift card vendors and generated sales forecasts before presenting my findings to my supervisors. "

"My summer internship was with ESPN Regional Television (ERT) working in their Event Management Department. Currently, ERT owns and operates eight events, including 3 college bowl games, a Historically Black College/University (HBCU) football classic, and 4 college basketball events. My involvement with these events was focused largely in the areas of planning and research. Some of the projects I worked on included: research to develop and propose a new college hockey event; the compilation of a report for an event title sponsor to outline value derived from sponsorship involvement; research to pinpoint best radio and print outlets through which ERT could market their HBCU event; and collaboration with ERT’s Sr. Vice President to develop preliminary language for bowl conference contract extensions. Additionally, I had the opportunity to attend ERT’s HBCU football event and serve as part of the on-site operations staff."

"This summer I worked with the Phoenix Suns, an industry leader in customer relationship management (CRM) principles. Working with Microsoft’s CRM system, I analyzed the effectiveness of different promotional campaigns, tailored various marketing messages to different market segments, and segmented the Phoenix metropolitan area on the basis of those individuals and businesses that would be most likely to purchase inventory at America West Arena. While management had an “idea” of the target market’s tendency, my internship marked the first time any scientific methodologies were implemented in quantifying the target market. My findings were interesting. While thousands of dollars were being spent trying to acquire individual people to attend events, results indicated that businesses actually offered more profit per customer. "

"I spent this past summer working for the PGA of America in the South Florida section. It was an excellent opportunity to see all the behind the scenes action that helps to help increase new enrollees into the Fan Loyalty Program strengthens the image of the PGA and the game of golf. I worked on several projects such as creating an Executive Board presentation to be used in all 41 section offices across the U.S. as well as designing a marketing brochure to be used in soliciting funds for their new 501C3 Charitable Foundation. I was also responsible for the Junior Tour that the PGA supported in the South Florida region including operations setup, promotions, sponsorship signage and visibility, awards presentation, and acted as a rules official. Overall, I was able to improve the Tour’s efficiency and effectiveness in many areas. "

"This past summer I was offered an opportunity to work alongside some of the best brand marketers in the industry at Coca-Cola North America. I worked on several challenging and stimulating projects, including coordinating all marketing activation sampling for the new product launch of Coca-Cola Zero in the Phoenix and Denver markets. I was also very involved with the POWERade sponsorship of the NHRA. Duties surrounding the sponsorship included on-site event marketing as well as client hospitality events surrounding both events in Denver and Phoenix. Overall, this opportunity was a fantastic experience for me to learn more about the internal structure of a global organization and develop an understanding for the value-chain between Coca-Cola North America, our bottling partner, our customers and our consumers. This experience re-enforced my desire to work for a global brand in sports marketing. "

"I spent the summer at The Apothecary Shops, a pharmacy, headquartered in Scottsdale, AZ, that provides nationwide customized pharmacy solutions and services. Working directly for the Vice President of Sales & Marketing, my primary task was to develop a strategic marketing plan for the company’s expansion in the sports industry by evaluating profit maximizing opportunities and assessing general market conditions in professional and collegiate sports. In addition, I was able to get involved in several corporate change initiatives, including corporate culture strategy definition and implementation, as well as corporate re-branding initiatives"

"I spent my summer working for Action Sports Media, a collegiate marketing company headquartered in Portland, Oregon. My primary duties included conducting market research, which was used to drive sales and marketing initiatives for ASM’s “game day presentation” business and also assist in the company’s overall strategic objectives. Additionally, I implemented a customer service initiative, aimed at improving customer relations and retention. Finally, I completed a project that analyzed the company’s position within the collegiate marketing industry including recommendations moving forward, which I presented to ASM’s Director of Operations."

"My summer internship was with the athletics marketing department for Arizona State University. I had two major projects during the course of the summer. The first was the development and analysis of a customer satisfaction survey for the Devil’s Domain. The Devil’s Domain is ASU’s fan loyalty group that gives Sun Devils fans a behind the scenes look at ASU athletics. I was also fortunate enough to work with fellow sports business MBA Carrie Blankenship on the marketing plan for the 2005 ASU women’s soccer season. Carrie and I will be responsible for all promotions, game operations, advertising and public relations for the 2005 season. I will be continuing with the athletics marketing department during my second year as a marketing coordinator."
