A summer internship between the first and second academic years is another key to your future. It enables you to apply your academic experience, enrich your second year studies, establish yourself as a Financial Management and Markets (FMM) professional, and significantly increase your marketability upon graduation. All Financial Management and Markets students are expected to and do procure an internship.

Past Financial Management and Markets Internships have students in meaningful projects at a variety of companies. Students are responsible for securing their own internship but can receive help from the Career Management Center.

Major electronics
company

Conducted market analysis for new technology to ascertain whether it is viable to introduce new products and earn a satisfactory return on investment.
Research intensive
company

Determined the appropriate cost of capitals for the various divisions and each division's value, based on results from an economic value added model.
Airline:Conducted a cost-benefit analysis of frequent flyer program.
Utility:Determined cost of capital rates for three different lines of business of the utility division of a multi-divisional company.
Micro-Brewery:Evaluated the feasibility and valuation consequences of expanding operations to additional outlets and larger brewing capacity.
Computer Division of a Large Company:Developed a valuation model to analyze alternative strategies for going forward with the computer repair business.
Computer Company:Developed a shareholder value analysis of vendor relations with the company.
Money Management Company:Analyzed whether actively- or passively-managed mutual funds provide better returns to investors.
