Transcripts & GPAs

Transcripts should be submitted, from all academic institutions where an undergraduate or graduate degree was conferred, to the ASU Graduate College for verification.

You can request that your transcripts be sent directly from each undergraduate institution or you may collect them and forward them to ASU at one time. Each transcript you submit must be in a sealed envelope from the original institution. Please inquire if your previous institutions can include your Document Reference Number on each transcript. This information is used for authentication and matching purposes only. A Supplemental Document Cover Sheet is provided for your convenience but not required.

Transcripts from community colleges, transfer credits and advanced college credit courses also should be submitted.

Official transcripts for students who previously attended ASU do not need to be submitted, nor do transcripts for undergraduate credits transferred to ASU.

International Student Requirements

International transcript requirements New Window are more detailed and may require official translations.

Most international applicants will be required to submit evidence of English proficiency, particularly if English is not your first language. The W. P. Carey MBA standards regarding English proficiency requirements are stricter than ASU Graduate College standards New Window. A minimum TOEFL score is typically 103.

Eligible Transcripts

To be eligible for admission to graduate studies, transcripts should reflect the following:

  • U.S. bachelor's degree or the equivalent from a regionally accredited institution. A bachelor's degree in the U.S. is a four-year degree that follows 12 years of primary and secondary school work. International applicants should review information regarding international degrees New Window.
  • Equivalent to a B grade point average in the last 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of undergraduate coursework is preferred.

Transcript Reviews

The Admissions Committee will review transcripts and GPAs and incorporate information such as major and institution attended as part of the evaluation process. Post-baccalaureate coursework at the community college, undergraduate or graduate level may be used to enhance a lower undergraduate GPA. If you are concerned about your past academic performance, you may use the third essay question in the online application to provide the Admissions Committee with additional information about your GPA. Personal, academic or financial constraints that may have impacted your academic performance should be addressed.

Transfer Credits

Transfer credits are not accepted by the W. P. Carey MBA Program due to the lock-step nature of our curriculum.
