Business and Public Policy

Between your first and second year, you will have the opportunity to see business and public policy in action on both a state and federal level. You will participate in the Arizona Legislative process as well as observe first-hand how the federal government interacts with business policy in Washington, D.C. This is a strategy course that helps managers understand how public policies can create opportunities or threats for their organizations, and how they can develop and organize their resources to participate effectively in the public policy process.

You will:

  • Experience firsthand the structure and operations of the various branches of government
  • Learn how to monitor and anticipate key public policy decisions and assess the various political players and their interests
  • Participate in a simulation in which key policy decisions are made
  • Gain insight and appreciation for the importance of public policy issues when thinking strategically about their organization's current operations and future plans
