This section requests information common to all degree programs and includes the following sub-sections:
Personal Information
Applicants are asked to submit biographical information, contact information, citizenship information and personal identification information. If you possess an Arizona State University ID number from past enrollment and/or a previous application, please have this information available.
Institution Information
Applicants will be asked to submit the beginning/ending dates and location(s) of your academic degree(s).
Academic Information
To be eligible for admission to graduate studies, you must have the following:
- U.S. bachelor's degree or the equivalent from a regionally accredited institution. A bachelor's degree in the U.S. is a four-year degree that follows twelve years of primary and secondary school work. International applicants should review information regarding international degrees.
- Equivalent to a "B" grade point average in the last 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of undergraduate course work. If you do not meet the minimum GPA, your application may still be considered although the degree program office may require additional supporting documents.
Students will be required to submit transcripts from all institutions attended. International applicants should review additional details concerning the submission of international transcripts.
Grade/Mark Average or GPA
Applicants will be asked to submit the following calculations:
- Cumulate undergraduate GPA
- Estimated junior-senior GPA
- Graduate GPA (if applicable)
Test Scores (GMAT and TOEFL)
GMAT
Applicants will be asked to report both the score number and percentile obtained for the verbal, quantitative and analytical section of the GMAT during the online application process. Applicants who have not yet taken the GMAT test, may leave this section blank. Review more detailed information regarding GMAT information and registration.
TOEFL (English Proficiency)
English Proficiency Requirements must be met by international students through submission of TOEFL or IELTS scores. Review the W. P. Carey MBA standards regarding English Proficiency requirements as they are stricter than existing ASU standards.
AZ Residency Information
All applicants wishing to be considered for in-state tuition must complete the residency section of the application. Applicants who submit an incomplete residency section or who do not meet the requirements set by the ASU Residency Classification Office will be given nonresident status. Review additional information regarding residency information.

This section will require you to choose the MBA platform to which you wish to apply.
If applying for a concurrent degree, please fill out the appropriate online application.

Supplemental documents should be submitted using our Supplemental Document Cover Sheet which contains the mailing address.
Letters of Recommendation
The W. P. Carey MBA requires you to secure two Letters of Recommendation, which you should collect directly from your recommenders. You may wish to provide your recommenders with the following link to our recommended Letter of Recommendation Form. Review additional tips for submission of Letters of Recommendation.
Resume
Your resume must be submitted using the web-based application. Resumes should include:
- Job titles and positions held, including key responsibilities and accomplishments for each position and salary history
- Honors, awards, certificates, professional organizations, volunteer activities and community involvement
- Computer skills, multilingual abilities and overseas travel or work experience
- Academic background including schools attended and degrees earned
Essays and Employment Information
Current/Most Recent Employer
Applicants will be asked to provide information regarding their most recent employer including title, industry, postal address and annual salary in US dollars. Applicants will also be asked to provide the total years of full-time, post-bachelor degree work experience.
Essays
Completion of three essays is required in order for the online application to be considered complete. Responses to each essay should be limited to no more than 700 words, approximately two double-spaced pages per essay. Each essay must be individually uploaded to the online application as a separate document.
Essay #1: Explain how your past accomplishments have prepared you for the W. P. Carey MBA.
Essay #2: How will the W. P. Carey MBA help you achieve your personal and professional goals?
Essay #3: Please address any weaknesses in your W. P. Carey MBA application or provide additional information that you would like to bring to the attention of the Admissions Committee. If you have a future GMAT test date, please include the test date in essay #3.
Character Questions
All applicants are required to answer three character and fitness questions. Please be prepared to provide full details regarding any past academic dishonesty, behavioral misconduct, or criminal charges (other than minor traffic violations).
Source of Referral
Applicants will be asked to identify how they learned about the W. P. Carey MBA program at Arizona State University.
Application fees are nonrefundable. The fee listed below will be assessed for each application submitted.
Domestic Application Fee - $65
International Application Fee - $80
A $250 fee will be required from all applicants applying after May 1. Applications will not be processed until the fee is received. All checks and money orders must include applicant's full name as it appears on the Graduate Application, date of birth, and Application ID number.
Accepted forms of currency to pay the application fee include:
- Credit card (VISA or MasterCard)
- U.S. check or U.S. money order, made payable to Arizona State University
- Cash, only if paying in person. Please do not mail cash.
Note: Checks drawn on international banks must identify a corresponding U.S. bank on the check and have bank routing numbers imprinted across the bottom of the draft. International money orders cannot be accepted.
