Application Requirements

Web-based Application

This web-based application collects the majority of information required by the Division of Graduate Studies, as well as the supplemental information needed by the specific W. P. Carey MBA program to which you are applying.

Sections include:

  • Personal Information
  • Undergraduate Degree(s) and School(s)
  • GMAT Test Scores and GPA
  • Arizona Residency Classification
  • W. P. Carey MBA Program Choice
  • W. P. Carey Supplemental Application
  • Application Fee

Required Essays

Your required essays must be submitted using the web-based application. Visit http://wpcarey.asu.edu/mba/eve/adms-essay.cfm to learn more about current essay questions.

Essays must be uploaded in a file formatted as Text (*.txt), Rich Text (*.rtf), or Microsoft Word (*.doc). Responses should be limited to 700 words per essay (approximately two (2) double-spaced pages per essay).

Current Resume

Your resume (two page maximum) should include the following:

  • Dates and location(s) of your academic degree(s)
  • Your employment and salary history, including job responsibilities
  • A list of recent honors, awards or certificates
  • A list of overseas travel and/or work experience
  • Any multilingual abilities

Candidate resumes should also list and briefly describe all extracurricular and community/civic activities and the level of your involvement (i.e., as a founding member, an appointed or elected officer, etc.).

GMAT

Arrangements to schedule an exam should be made directly with a GMAT testing center, and request that your scores be submitted to Arizona State University. More test information, including school codes, may be found at http://wpcarey.asu.edu/mba/eve/adms-gmat.cfm.

For applicants who retake the GMAT, the W. P. Carey MBA will only consider the highest score and does not average scores.

English Proficiency

Items Mailed

Immediately upon final submission of your web-based application, you will see your Document Reference Number displayed. We ask that you include this reference number on all supplemental application items. This number will assist in the "matching" of your application materials.

The following items should be forwarded to the Division of Graduate Studies in a single and complete mailing (with your Document Reference Number on each of the items).

  • Cover Sheet

    Include in the mailing packet a cover sheet confirming the exact name used during completion of your web-based application, the W. P. Carey MBA program to which you are applying, and your date of birth (month/day only). This information is used for authentication and matching purposes only.

  • Two (2) Letters of Recommendation

    You should secure two letters of recommendation on company letterhead from your references, and forward them unopened in the original, sealed envelopes as part of your supplemental application materials mailing. The W. P. Carey MBA does not provide a standardized recommendation form.

  • Official Transcript(s)

    One (1) unopened official transcript for each college or university attended must be submitted in sealed envelopes directly from the college or university. If you have more than one degree, make sure you request an official transcript from the school from which you received your four-year bachelor's degree.
