Scholarship Opportunities
There are several ways to apply for scholarships. Business students should apply through the W. P. Carey School of Business and the ASU Scholarship Office. Scholarships through the W. P. Carey School are limited to business students while those administered through the ASU Scholarship Office are open to all ASU students.
The W. P. Carey Scholarship general application should be completed each academic year. A separate application may be required for certain business scholarships. Please contact the Undergraduate Scholarship Office for more information.
Scholarships for Marketing Students
Marketing majors are also eligible to apply for many scholarships that are awarded through the marketing scholarship committee and external organizations. These scholarships typically offer awards of $500 to $1,500.
The W. P. Carey Department of Marketing also selects one student each fall and spring semester for the Marketing Outstanding Graduating Senior Award. In addition to receiving a scholarship, the winner is nominated to become the W. P. Carey School’s Outstanding Graduating Senior.
Annual Scholarship and Awards Reception
Every spring the Marketing Department invites top students and their families and friends to attend the Annual Scholarship and Awards reception. The reception recognizes the achievements of our students over the academic year. The event allows students, scholarship donors, faculty, administrators and others to celebrate the very best of W. P. Carey’s marketing program.
Developing a Competitive Scholarship Application
To receive scholarships, you must build a series of impressive achievements over your entire academic career. While some scholarships are available to incoming students, freshmen and sophomores, many of the top awards require junior-level standing. Therefore, it is important to build a resume within your first few semesters that will catch the attention of scholarship committees at ASU and nationwide.
What are the key ingredients of competitive applications?
- Excellent grades in challenging courses
- Pursuit of rigorous academic programs, multiple majors and academic certificates
- Participation in leadership and community programs on and off campus
- Internships and other work experience
- Outstanding course-related projects
- Well-written, professional essays that convey originality and creativity
- Accurate financial data demonstrating need (when required)
- A clear demonstration of passion and desire
- Concise yet effective presentation of your ideas, goals, and accomplishments
Not every scholarship committee member values the same criteria, so students with varying backgrounds and academic careers are always encouraged to apply.
