Meet the Faculty
W. P. Carey School of Business faculty members are world-class teachers, researchers, practitioners and thought leaders who bring classroom learning to life. The school's research production ranks in the top 10 in the world among business schools with a number 1 ranking for the Department of Management in 2011. The school's faculty serve as consultants to more than 300 companies and government agencies.
The faculty also contribute to and edit prestigious academic journals, and are sought out as experts in their fields by such media outlets as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Forbes, BusinessWeek, USA Today, CNN and National Public Radio.
Our students work alongside faculty mentors in conducting and publishing research, providing consultation to local businesses and creating strategies to address real-world business challenges.

Suzanne Peterson
Dr. Peterson joined the W. P. Carey School in 2008. Her current research interests include CEO leadership, positive organizational behavior, and performance of individuals and firms. Her research has been published in such journals as Journal of Applied Psychology and Personnel Psychology and she serves on the editorial boards of Leadership Quarterly and Journal of Organizational Behavior. From a practical standpoint, she specializes in the development of leadership behaviors that characterize extraordinary leaders. She developed and teaches a course titled High Impact Leadership in the Executive MBA Program. She is a recipient of the 2012 W. P. Carey School of Business MBA Outstanding Teaching Award. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska.

Zhen Zhang
Dr. Zhang joined the Management Department after earning his Ph.D. in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the Carlson School of Management, University of Minnesota in 2008. His research interests include leadership process and leadership development, interfaces between organizational behavior and entrepreneurship, biological basis of organizational behavior, and advanced research methods. His research has been published in such journals as Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, and Personnel Psychology. He serves on the editorial board of Journal of Organizational Behavior and the Leadership Quarterly.

Louise Nemanich
Dr. Nemanich joined the W.P. Carey faculty in 2006 after earning her PhD in strategic management from the Bauer College of Business at University of Houston. Her research interests focus on micro-processes supporting the development of innovation capabilities in organizations and teams, including absorptive capacity, improvisation, ambidexterity, transformational leadership, knowledge transfer, and minimal structures. She teaches courses in Strategic Management and the Strategic Management of Innovation for graduate and undergraduate students. She is the Faculty Director for the Masters of Science in Management degree program. She serves our local community as a member of the Board of the Scottsdale Public Library System.

Gary Naumann
Professor Naumann joined the W. P. Carey faculty in 2007 to teach entrepreneurship after over thirty years of combined experience as an entrepreneur, corporate finance consultant, commercial banker and lecturer in entrepreneurship at leading graduate schools of business. In addition to his role as The Hahnco Companies Professor in Entrepreneurship, since 2008 Gary has been the Director, Spirit of Enterprise Center, the Entrepreneurship center for the W. P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. In this capacity, he interacts with the entrepreneurial community to honor, educate and assist entrepreneurs to make better companies and help promote job growth in the region. He is the recipient of the 2012 John W. Teets Outstanding Graduate Teaching Award. Professor Naumann received his MBA from Harvard Business School.
