Operating System
The operating system is what allows programs to run. There are two operating systems used by MBA students; Mac and Windows. Windows is the Operating System used by most students. You can successfully complete the MBA Program using either operating system as long as you understand the specific requirements for Mac.

Business Applications
Numerous business applications are utilized in the MBA Program. These programs differ in usage and requirement. Some of the business applications are programs within the Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, etc. Others business application are add-ins which inject themselves into a Microsoft Office application to expand the capabilities; like Palisade. Finally, some applications are not Microsoft programs and offer completely different features all together; like SAS, SPSS. All these business applications are available through Citrix running a Windows Operating System. Most of these application are available to laptops running a Windows Operating System. Many of these application do not run on Mac.

Citrix
Some applications are very expensive to install because of license terms. Other applications require extensive processing power or storage capacity. These applications are installed in Citrix to overcome cost and processing limitations. Citrix is a virtual environment which provides access to a host of software for students to use. Citrix provides a Windows Operating System that can be accessed from any computer with internet access. Citrix allows students using Mac to access all the needed business applications.

!!Although Entourage and Mac Mail can access Microsoft Exchange, they do not contain certain features necessary to participate in the Full-time MBA Program. ASU provides Mac users the required access to Microsoft Exchange through a website which runs the Outlook Web Client.
