The CRSP Mutual Fund data has been updated at N:\mutualfunds
. For this release we have the ANSCI and SAS datasets. Future updates will
include the SAS dataset only.

The Research Insight data has been updated. The next time you
use Research Insight, you will have access to the new data
release.
02/22/05 The CRSP data on the
network has been updated. It now contains data through 2004.
02/15/05 Note- the Computer Store
is now distributing SPSS 13. The output file format is not
compatible with version 12. The School will be changing to
version 13 at the end of the summer. Till then, users are
advised to be aware of the output file format difference. 02/02/05
The CRSP Mutual Fund data has been updated at N:\mutualfunds
. Note that CRSP has changed the way the data is distributed
in this release. The data is now provided as SAS datasets. 12/02/04
If you purchased a stand alone SAS license from the Computer
Store but the license complains that it is expired, you have
an old version of the CDs. You will need to contact the
Computer Store and request the new license code. It will be
emailed to you as a text file. 11/15/04
The Research Insight data has been updated. The next time you
use Research Insight, you will have access to the new data
release. 11/01/05 The
latest Execucomp data has been made available on the network
at S:\execucomp .
10/05/04 The latest CRSP Mutual
Fund data is now available. It can be found on the School of
Business network at N:\mutualfunds.
09/27/04 The Citrix servers have
been updated. They now contain the latest versions of the
research applications including SAS 9.1 and SPSS 12.0.
09/24/04 I have placed a link on
the main research support page to the ASU
Library's Business and Economics resources page. This page
contains a list of various business related resources and data
services provided by the ASU Library. I strongly recommend
exploring it to discover what resources are available in
addition to those provided by the School of Business.
08/26/04 A new item as been added
to the Tips section on the bottom of this page. It provides an
introduction to the World Bank's WDI Online database and an
explanation of how to access. WDI Online has a wide range of
economic variables for all countries from 1960 to 2002.
08/05/04 The Compustat Tape data
has been updated with the July 2004 release. The new data is
available on the network at k:\sas
data and through WRDS.

07/30/04 In the coming weeks, a
number of application updates will be deployed for the network
based applications. The applications to be updated include
Eviews, SAS, SPSS, Eventus, and Enterprise Miner.
06/23/04 A new SAS Tip has
been added. It explains how to use SAS/Connect with WRDS. WRDS
and SAS users can find a link to it in the Tips section at the
bottom of this page or reach it directly from here.
05/10/04 The latest
Research Insight data has been placed on the network. The next
time you use Research Insight, it will be available
automatically. The data now extends through April 2004.
04/26/04 The latest
Execucomp file has been released. It has been placed on the
network at S:\execucomp\April2004
. Before working with the data, you should make a copy to your
C:\ drive. Do not attempt to modify the original copy on the
S:\ drive. 04/02/04
The CRSP Mutual Fund data has been updated. The new data can
be accessed at N:\mutualfunds
. 03/30/04 TAQ data
should now be available through WRDS. For more information on
WRDS including how to access it, please visit the WRDS
page. 03/15/04 Reminder-
SDC is limited on the number of users that can be connected at
any one time. If you are finished working in it, please
disconnect. Also, if you try to run SDC and it fails to
connect, it is because the user limit has been exceeded. 03/05/04
A service pack has been applied to SDC. Users should not be
impacted. If you have any SDC questions, contact wpcresearch.support@asu.edu
. 02/20/04 Anyone
using Exceed to connect to the Central IT Unix servers should
edit the xhosts.txt to only include the specific servers that
it is used with. In the case of research users, that would be
general.asu.edu, stats.asu.edu, and research.asu.edu. If you
have questions, contact wpcresearch.support@asu.edu
. 02/11/04 The newest
release of the CRSP data has been placed on the network. It is
accessible on the N:\ drive. In addition, the data is
available in SAS format in the N:\Sas
folder. The CRSP data now runs through December 2003.
02/06/04 The latest
Research Insight data has been loaded on the network. The next
time you run Research Insight, it will be available.
01/29/04 If you encounter
an error while trying to open SAS help on a stand alone
installation, the problem may be related to a recent Microsoft
hotfix. In order to correct the problem, SAS fix 82BB12 must
be applied. For more information and assistance, contact wpcresearch.support@asu.edu

11/03/03 A new version of the
Execucomp database has been released. It is available at S:\execucomp\exec102003.mdb
. Note- these are Access database files. Be sure to copy the
file to your local C:\ drive or G:\ drive before trying to make
changes.
10/17/03 Just a reminder: the
stand alone SAS licenses are due for renewal at the end of
this month. For more information, contact your department. For

10/07/03 If you are
encountering the "ICA Client not found" error when
trying to access an application in Citrix, you need to clear out
the temporary files in Internet Explorer. For instructions,

Exchange data files at K:\phlx
have been updated.

Rates and FDIC data files on the K:\ drive have been

data has been updated. The CRSP Mutual Fund data can be found
on the School of Business network at N:\mutualfunds.

06/23/03 The network license
purchased by Management and Marketing has been upgrade to
Lisrel 8.54 . Members of Management and Marketing using this
installation will automatically have Lisrel 8.54 launched the
next time they try to use Lisrel.
06/20/03 It is recommending that
all users of Lisrel 8.3 immediately update to Lisrel 8.5 .
There appears to be numerous issues with 8.3 that can lead to
unreliable results. 06/13/03 The "Using
WRDS" and "Advanced WRDS Facilities and
Techniques" documents have been added to the WRDS
page. These were presented by the WRDS representative during
his Thursday visit and contain detailed information on the
WRDS service as well as example code.
6/06/03 The Dow Jones
Interactive service will be discontinued by the Vendor as of
June 30th. As part of this, we are being transitioned to the
Factiva service. Factiva is a superset of the DJI content. It
contains the same information as well as additional data. It
features a much more powerful interface as well. Factiva can
be accessed from the link under the Data Services category
above or from this LINK.
06/05/03 WRDS representatives
will be visiting the School of Business on Thursday June 12th.
They will be holding a presentation at 3pm in BAC201.
06/03/03 Access to Lexis
websites appears to be restored.
05/27/03 Access to remote Lexis
websites/ip addresses is currently being blocked due to a
technical problem on campus. Until it is corrected, the Lexis
webpage will be unavailable.
05/21/03 The Dow Jones News
Retrieval service will be discontinued as of the end of June.
This is a decision taken by the vendor to discontinue this
product. As a result, we will be moving to Factiva as the
replacement by June 30th.
05/14/03 The Research Insight
data has been updated. The next time you start Research
Insight it will load the new dates.
03/28/03 The latest update to
the CRSP Mutual Fund data has arrived. It is available at N:\mutualfunds
.
02/25/03 TSPrint has been updated
to version 2.75. The new version includes bug fixes and works
with the most recent version of the CRSP dataset. 02/25/03
