Getting Files from FTP
The address to reach the FTP server is ftp.asu.edu.

The data now reside in AFS space with the FTP server pointing to it. Just like before, you can reach the ASU FTP server with any FTP program. In addition, you can now change directories when logged onto any AFS server (i.e. when logged into General, the Stats server or the Research Server) and treat it just like any other AFS disk space. Change to the following directory:

        cd /afs/asu.edu/ftp/

Then there are two different options at this point: pub and asupub.

  1. The pub directory is available for anonymous FTP.
  2. The asupub directory is for things that only the ASU community is eligible for.

Items restricted to ASU only use such as Netscape, ASUNET, MACTCP-PPP, and the Appletalk dial-in client are located in the asupub directory.

When FTPing from an ASU ethernet address (on campus or dial-in), the client has access to both the asupub and pub directories. Within the asupub and pub directories are the pc and mac directories, the asupub directory also contains unix and write-up directories.
