Health Information Technology for Supply Chain Management: Best Practices and Implications for Hospitals and Health System Performance.
Principal Investigator: Michael Furukawa opens new window

The specific aims of this research study are to examine the implications of health IT for supply chain management in U.S. hospitals and health systems. The study is specifically looking at how supply chain IT is being adopted and used; to what extent supply chain IT reduces hospital supply expenses; how supply chain IT affects costs and use of physician preference items; and how supply chain IT affects standardization of supplies within health systems.

Supply Chain in the Executive Suite

The specific aims of this research study are to understand leading practices for the movement of supply chain leadership to the executive suite with a focus on strategy, structure and organizational performance. The study is investigating factors and strategies that precipitated the movement of supply chain into the C-suite; assessing the performance of organizations that have positioned supply chain in the executive suite; identifying the metrics that can be used to measure success due to the presence of supply chain in the C-suite; and clarifying attributes of great supply chain leaders.
